AMZ Selling Tools vs Keepa

Honest comparison of two Amazon product trackers — what each does well, where each falls short, and which one fits your workflow.

TL;DR

  • Pick Keepa if you need deep historical price graphs on any ASIN, a browser-overlay extension, or coverage on JP / AU marketplaces.
  • Pick AMZ Selling Tools if you want a read-only API on every plan, you only need to track a specific portfolio of ASINs, you want credits that never expire, or you want to start under $10.
  • Both products use snapshot-based scraping. Neither is "real-time" in the minute-by-minute sense — Amazon doesn't expose that.

Where Keepa wins (honestly)

  • Historical depth. Keepa has been scraping Amazon since ~2012. For a popular ASIN you can pull a 10-year price graph, including buy-box history, third-party seller history, and Amazon's own price as a separate line. We can't match that backfill on day one — we only have data going forward from the day you start tracking an ASIN.
  • Browser extension. The Keepa Chrome extension that overlays price history directly on Amazon product pages is the single most-installed Amazon-seller tool for a reason. We don't have an equivalent.
  • Marketplace coverage. If you sell on Amazon.co.jp, Amazon.com.au, Amazon.in, or any of the Latin American marketplaces, Keepa covers you and we don't (yet).
  • Community deal feed. Keepa's deals dashboard surfaces price drops across the whole catalog. We only track what you ask us to track — a different workflow.

Where AMZ Selling Tools wins

  • Read-only API on every plan. Every account gets API access to the data on your own tracked ASINs — no extra purchase, no separate token quota. Pull into Power BI, Google Sheets, or a custom dashboard. Keepa's equivalent API is a separate paid product.
  • Credits that never expire. Buy a $10 credit pack and use it across six months if that's how your scraping rhythm works. Keepa is subscription-only — pause, and your access lapses.
  • Lower entry price. $2.50/mo (500 checks) is the cheapest first-month entry in the Amazon-tracker market right now. The trade-off: at very high volumes (100k+ checks/month) Keepa's flat subscription becomes the better deal — see the slider on our pricing page for the exact crossover.
  • Localized scraping. Every marketplace is scraped with its own locale, currency, and language. Prices come back in EUR for Amazon.de, GBP for Amazon.co.uk — no client-side conversion. This matters more than it sounds because Amazon's own UI translates differently per marketplace, and lazy scrapers normalize to English / USD on the way out.

When should you use which?

Use Keepa if

  • • You need 10-year price history on arbitrary ASINs.
  • • You live in the Keepa Chrome extension already.
  • • You sell on JP / AU / IN marketplaces.
  • • You want curated deal feeds across the entire catalog.

Use AMZ Selling Tools if

  • • You track a defined portfolio of ASINs you own or watch.
  • • You want a real API on every plan (no add-on).
  • • You spend in bursts and want credits that don't expire.
  • • You sell on EU + US and need localized scraping.
